Hello Wonderful Friends and Family!
It's been a beautiful week in VA Beach! This week we have truly seen the hand of the Lord. The last few weeks I've had to learn how to truly rely on the Spirit for everything! It's been incredible to see that when we are obedient and humble that the Lord will bless us. I know that this is the Lord's work and I'm grateful for the opportunity I have to be a part of it!
TACO BELL
This week we had a miracle happen at Taco Bell! We parked in the Taco Bell parking lot before going out to do some street contacting. We said a prayer in the car that the prepared people would be led to us. Right after we said "amen" and opened our eyes a car pulled up next to us. We got out and started talking to the guy in that car. We ended up talking with him for 45 minutes in the Taco Bell parking lot! He is at a point in his life where he is really searching for the gospel. We shared a copy of the Book of Mormon with him and set up an appointment for the next day. We taught him the Restoration and it was one of the most Spirit led lessons I've even had. He is super excited about the gospel and it truly was a miracle that we met him!
INTERVIEWS
We had interviews with President Droubay this week. He's amazing! This time we had interviews as a companionship. It was really cool! We talked about the area and what we can do to really help this area reach the potential that it has. President Droubay is an amazing mission president, I know he's supposed to be here at this time!
EXCHANGES
We also had exchanges this week! I was with Hermana Larson! She is such an incredible missionary. We had a lot of fun and saw a lot of miracles! And she taught me some Spanish along the way haha! It was a fun day! We also had a little Halloween party that night with matching M&M shirts and a million different types of M&Ms to eat haha!
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT
This quote by Elder Holland really hit me this week! Being a missionary is the biggest blessing and brings me more joy than anything else. But at times it's hard. I'm so grateful for the times that I struggle because those are the times that my relationship with the Savior grows so much. I know without a doubt that my Savior loves me and knows me personally and I know that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ we can overcome anything!
"Anyone who does any kind of missionary work will have occasion to ask, Why is this so hard? Why doesn’t it go better? Why can’t our success be more rapid? Why aren’t there more people joining the Church? It is the truth. We believe in angels. We trust in miracles. Why don’t people just flock to the font? Why isn’t the only risk in missionary work that of pneumonia from being soaking wet all day and all night in the baptismal font?
You will have occasion to ask those questions. I have thought about this a great deal. I offer this as my personal feeling. I am convinced that missionary work is not easy because salvation is not a cheap experience. Salvation never was easy. We are The Church of Jesus Christ, this is the truth, and He is our Great Eternal Head. How could we believe it would be easy for us when it was never, ever easy for Him? It seems to me that missionaries and mission leaders have to spend at least a few moments in Gethsemane.
Now, please don’t misunderstand. I’m not talking about anything anywhere near what Christ experienced. That would be presumptuous and sacrilegious. But I believe that missionaries and investigators, to come to the truth, to come to salvation, to know something of this price that has been paid, will have to pay a token of that same price"
I love y'all so much!! I hope you have a Happy Halloween!
