Another wonderful week in beautiful Virginia Beach!! I'm so grateful to be serving here!! Here are some highlights from this week!!
ZONE CONFERENCE
We had zone conference and it was amazing, as always!! I was repeatedly impressed about the importance of Inviting people to change! This life is a time to prepare to meet God and it's so important that we are constantly striving to be better and do better! President Droubay also showed us the new Light the World video! It's SO GOOD! This Holiday season is going to be incredible!!
AUSTIN
Here is just one of the miracles we saw this week!! The Sisters serving here before us told us about this guy named Austin who left a note on our door and seemed super cool! Our first day here we briefly met him as we were carrying in our suitcases! We have been trying to get in contact with him but didn't know what apartment he lived in. A few days ago we made a daily goal to find Austin haha! As we were walking out of our apartment after dinner that day Austin was standing right there! Turns out he lives right across the hall from us! We had a really good conversation with him and he seems really interested in learning more! We shared a Book of Mormon with him were able to share some scriptures with him that related exactly to what he was going through. It was a cool testimony builder to me that when we set worthy goals and try to accomplish them that the Lord will help us!
KENNEDY
Okay everyone, Kennedy is the coolest person! He is someone that the previous sisters had started teaching and we are teaching him now! I've never met someone so prepared for the gospel! He has been going to church since he was 16 with his grandparents, he reads the scriptures everyday and he told us this week that he wants to get baptized and go on a mission!! WOW! We had an awesome lesson with him this week! We read 1 Nephi 1 and taught the Restoration! It's amazing how much that chapter relates to the story of Joseph Smith. Kennedy has such a strong testimony and I'm excited to see all the amazing things he will accomplish!
MELINDA
Melinda is a really special person that we visit every week! She is a quadriplegic and can only communicate with her eyes. We go over and visit with her and give her some company. It's so humbling to be around her and feel of her Spirit! This week we helped her put up some Halloween decorations in her room! It was so fun!
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT
This week I have really been pondering the story of the Loaves and the fishes! So many times in life it's easy to feel inadequate or feel that our skills and talents don't measure up to the task ahead. I think it's so amazing that the Lord will take whatever we have to offer, he will accept our humble efforts and magnify them! James E. Faust said: “Many nameless people with gifts equal only to five loaves and two small fishes magnify their callings and serve without attention or recognition, feeding literally thousands”
I hope you know that each of you are making such a difference in the work of the Lord! Continue to give what you have to the Lord and He will add to what you can give! With Jesus Christ we are always enough!
