"You can do hard things"
Hello wonderful people!
I hope ya'll had a very happy mothers day! I've been so blessed with the most amazing mother. Something she has always taught me is that I can do hard things! She has always encouraged me to work hard and try new things! I'm grateful for the example that she is to me! She really is my very best friend! Love ya mom!💕
EXCHANGES
We had exchanges this week and I was with the lovely Sister Smart! She is an incredible missionary and I learned so much from her! We had a lot of fun together and saw so many miracles!!! Here are a few cool things that happened:
~We met a man that was deaf while tracting. I was able to remember enough sign language to have a conversation with him in sign language! It was so fun!
~We met a sweet man that has Down syndrome while street contacting in the park! He was feeding the ducks in the pond so we went and did that with him for a few minutes! We were instant best friends! ;) He told us about how his mom past away a year ago so we talked to him about the Plan of Salvation a little bit! He was so cute!
~Sister Smart had a video doctors appointment in the car so I did some trio tracting with Sister Heumann and Sister Schouten. We had a goal to say a joke at a door and we did it! It actually led to a really good conversation! The joke we used was "Do you want to hear my construction joke?....I'm still working on it!" haha we had fun together!
LAYTON HIGH?
Yesterday when we were out tracting we met a man who had a U of U shirt on. We asked him if he was from Utah and he said they just moved here a few weeks ago from LAYTON Utah. Turns out that his wife actually taught at Layton High School for 15 years! I asked her if she knew some of my favorite High School teachers and she knew all of them! Haha it's such a small world!
SO MUCH LOVE
This week I've just felt so much LOVE for the people here in Harrisonburg! The ward here is so amazing and they are so willing to help us in any way that they can! The members here have so much faith and they are so willing to share their testimony with anyone. We were meeting with some members last night and sharing a lesson about inviting others to come and see the blessings of the gospel. As we were talking, this member told us that she has already given out 3 copies of the Book of Mormon the last little while and she has some other people in mind! I'm so grateful for the people I get to meet here and for the miracles I get to see everyday. The church is so true!
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT
Lately I've been thinking a lot about testimony and conversion. What does it mean to have a testimony? What does it mean to be converted? In a talk by David A. Bednar titled "Converted unto the Lord" he says,
"A testimony is spiritual knowledge of truth obtained by the power of the Holy Ghost. Continuing conversion is constant devotion to the revealed truth we have received—with a heart that is willing and for righteous reasons. Knowing that the gospel is true is the essence of a testimony. Consistently being true to the gospel is the essence of conversion. We should know the gospel is true and be true to the gospel."
When we are truly converted to the Lord it shows in the way we act each day, the way we treat other people and the desires of our heart.
I love ya'll so much! I hope you have the best week! Keep doing your best and let God do the rest!
